Sunrise Miches, Marriott’s big bet on all-inclusives

The tourist destination of Miches is not only in the focus of investors who are betting on new lodging proposals, but also, the hotel proposals already operating in the area are working on raising their level to be in line with the new times and at the same time prepared for the “avalanche” of visitors that are projected to be received in the area.

Such is the case of Sunrise Miches Beach Resort, a 498-room establishment, which is undergoing a conversion process (although it is operational) that will include an ambitious investment plan, being its operation from the first quarter of 2025 in the hands of Marriott, under the name of Marriott Miches Beach An All-Inclusive Resort.

In this regard, Luis Padilla, Asset Managing Director of River Beach Corporation, recalled that after the signing of the agreement between River Beach Corporation and Marriott International, the property is the first of the Dominican company and the second all-inclusive Marriott in the DR.

He said that the bet on Miches by both companies is due to the fact that it is “currently the fastest growing destination in terms of focus and development in the eastern zone”.

“For us it is a source of pride because due to that Marriott agreement, which has more than 30 brands globally, we are going to be Marriott’s most iconic brand and we will be the second all-inclusive property, the first being in Cancun, and definitely the level of the brand, not only in international standards, but also in its reservation system, is one of the most powerful globally,” he added.

Padilla indicated that not only will the hotel be upgraded after the renovations, but that, upon Marriott’s arrival, the property will have an adult section and a family section. “Considering that currently with Sunrise Miches Beach Resort we are adults only.”

Regarding the referred process of segment division, he detailed that the designers are working on the children’s part of the area destined to family within the hotel structure that will entail a kids club and a recreation area on the beach.

“This conversion process, which began last March in its phase number 1, took from 3 to three and a half months and was focused on all the technology and security issues that was to enter and connect us to Marriott’s ecosystem. Since June we can be connected to their loyalty program that has more than 80 million guests with Marriott Bonvoy that helps us sell the destination, and logically the occupancy, and everything that entails entering their reservations will automatically trigger ours,” he explained.

Padilla explained that the total conversion process will end in the first quarter of 2025 when Marriott, starting in the fourth month, will actively participate with the new brand.

“This part is more complex and takes more time. What is relevant is that we are already linked to Marriott.com and the loyalty program, although only with Sunrise, and that fact makes us visible globally,” he emphasized.
