Sonesta International Hotels Corporation announced an aggressive expansion plan in the Dominican Republic with the construction of five Sonesta ES Suites hotels by 2031.
The first project, Sonesta ES Suites ELEMENTS Jarabacoa, will open its doors in the first quarter of 2026, marking the beginning of this ambitious initiative. The extended-stay hotel, located in the province of La Vega, will become a benchmark for luxury tourism in the region, with panoramic mountain views and direct access to outdoor adventure activities in a unique natural setting.
“This agreement marks a milestone for Sonesta and demonstrates our commitment to the Latin American region. We want to meet the growing demand for luxury apartment-style accommodations for both consumers and franchisees,” said Brian Quinn, Sonesta’s Chief Development Officer.
The Sonesta ES Suites ELEMENTS Jarabacoa will feature 80 suites equipped with modular kitchens, granite countertops and floor-to-ceiling windows. It will also offer a wide range of amenities, including eight swimming pools, sports courts, electric vehicle charging stations, and an exclusive French bistro, the first in the area.
The project has been franchised to Almanzar Marte Ingenieros & Arquitectos, a renowned real estate developer with more than 14 years of experience.
“We are excited to bring the Sonesta brand to the Dominican Republic. Their values of hospitality and family principles align perfectly with ours,” commented David Almanzar, CEO of the firm.
The collaboration promises to transform the luxury tourism offering in the region.
Sonesta ES Suites’ presence in the Caribbean promises to change the way extended stays are conceived, and set a new standard in the local hotel industry, fusing comfort, luxury and Jarabacoa’s nature.
