The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, held a meeting in Miami with executives of the La Romana International Airport and Kevin M. Cabrera, Commissioner of Miami-Dade County in order to announce the new American Airlines route.
Through X, Collado explained that the new route will be Miami-La Romana with a daily frequency, starting on December 5, considering that this will allow an increase in visitor arrivals to the destination.
“Today in Miami, we will be in the company of La Romana International Airport executives and Kevin M. Cabrera, Miami-Dade County Commissioner, announcing the new American Airlines route, MIA-La Romana with a daily frequency. This will allow an increase in visitor arrivals to this destination, increasing its opportunities and development. We are still going strong!”, Collado posted.
He thanked American Airlines for trusting in the Dominican Republic, Casa de Campo Airport executives, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Kevin M. Cabrera and all those who have made the route possible, which will greatly benefit La Romana and its people.
The minister recalled that in 2023, La Romana Airport received more than 75,633 passengers. From January to July 2024, we have already received 49,907 tourists, which confirms the potential for growth with this new route.
He said that so far in 2024, more than 2.9 million U.S. residents have arrived in the DR by air, 668,030 of them from Florida. “This new daily flight from Miami will only strengthen those numbers by creating tourism opportunities and development for La Romana!”.
