First operation of Vida por El Rio
On March 29, 2008, in La casa del Turismo de Las Terrenas,
a meeting was held in order to define objectives and future operations of the project Vida por El Rio
.
The first operation of garbage collection in the Rio will take place on Sunday, April 13, 2008, at 7h30 am in front of the Central Ferretero Leonardo
, calle principal.
Civil defense, the Las Terrenas town hall, Humanitary Association Dominico Europea as well as Limpieza Playa and the deputy Jose Acevedo will be present and will take advantage of the river dryness to carry out this depollution project that is more than necessary.
All the volunteers armed with plastic bags and gloves are welcome to take part in this operation that benefits the river but the beaches too, where are poured the refuse that it transports.
After an agreement with Choza Taina
, this night bar and restaurant invites you to take back your strength with a lunch in the district Come Pan
close to the Rio.
In addition, Limpieza Playa gave 5000 pesos for the painting of signs that will be installed on the Las Terrenas bridges and 30 garbage tanks are ready to be placed along the river in the districts it crosses.
In what concerns communication, information will be transmitted by e-mail, and through local channel TV 10, as well as in the weekly newspaper LT7.
